Mark was playing for the last 4 years as a solo guitar / singer guy. He was a regular at
the Renshaw Lounge in Clawson, Mi for about 3 yrs.
One night when Mark was playing at the Renshaw, Brad Bell and Marty Cummins were
out with their main squeezes and heard Mark's performance.
Brad and Mark had gone to the same High School in Royal Oak, the best High School
actually KIMBALL.
Brad is know as a master percussionist and Marty could make the guitar God's bow down
to him when he plugged in his Axe. They had both played in a few bands in their day and
wondered if Mark would be interested in getting together and jammin' some time.
Mark did not have much to offer with talent, just a guy with a great voice and who could
play rhythm guitar and could sing about 300 songs from memory.
Mark and Brad started to do a few gigs together, soft acoustic guitar and Jimbe bongo
drum kinda stuff. Things were sounding good and the two men were complimenting each
others talents.
After 8 or 9 months later, Marty would stop by and jam with the guys and things were
really quite good for the 3 of them. Marty could really play great and his lead guitar licks
were a perfect fit. Brad fashion a small drum kit out of some left over drum set pieces
and used dowel pin cluster sticks to keep the sound nice and soft.
So in the last year and a half this small three man band became something light and
tasty. Something people NEEDED.
Mark was in a Taco Bell one night and noticed on the sign when standing in line that the
fat grams were advertised under the food choices. A lot of them were labeled 7 GRAMS
OF FAT.
A few weeks later Mark was at Subway and many sandwiches were labeled with the
nutritional value 7 GRAMS OF FAT.
Mark thought,.. what a great name for a band! 7 grams of Fat! And after doing a
Google search on the internet Mark also found out that you need 7 grams of Fat from
your food that you eat to digest properly or you don't receive the vitamins and minerals.
And if you Google 7 grams of Fat you will see the Band that everyone needs,..our band.
